About

Let me tell you a short story—pull up a chair and a mug.

My name is Elizabeth, and my middle name is Joy.

Elizabeth Rhyno smiling on the beach, founder of Joy Let Loose.

I’ve always loved the meanings of names, and mine carry a quiet weight:

Elizabeth — consecrated to God; set apart for God
Joy — well… joy

Taken together, you could say my parents named me set apart for God’s joy.

(Thank you, Mom and Dad. 🤍)

But here’s the honest part:
I didn’t naturally know how to live a joyful life.

When Joy Didn’t Come Easily

Instead of living with the joy I longed for, I found myself overwhelmed, tired, and overcommitted. I loved God deeply, but my life didn’t feel vibrant or spacious. It felt heavy.

I assumed joy would simply show up if I tried harder, believed better, or waited long enough.

It didn’t.

What I didn’t realize at the time was that joy isn’t automatic—especially for people who care deeply, lead faithfully, and carry responsibility.

Joy often needs to be practiced, not just hoped for.

Learning to Practice Joy

Over time—and through seasons of ministry, leadership, motherhood, and personal formation—I began to understand something that quietly changed everything:

Joy is possible.
Joy can be cultivated.
Joy is a spiritual practice rooted in truth and grace.

It’s something we learn to live into through truth, obedience, emotional honesty, rest, and grace—usually slowly, often imperfectly.

As I began to pursue joy intentionally, I discovered I wasn’t alone. I met so many others living what I now think of as joy poverty—people created for joy, but unsure how to lean into it without pretending or burning out.

Why Joy Let Loose Exists

Joy Let Loose exists to create space for a different conversation about joy.

Not joy as pressure or denial.
And not joy as something you perform for others.

But joy as something God forms in us over time—through faithful living, honest faith, and sustainable rhythms.

So, this space is shaped by a simple conviction:

Joy rooted in Jesus can coexist with real life.

Here, I explore Christian joy alongside:

  • Emotional honesty
  • Spiritual formation
  • Calling and purpose
  • Leadership and service
  • Rest and whole-person care

It’s grounded.
Gentle.
And honest.

Who This Space Is For

Joy Let Loose is for you if you:

  • Love Jesus but feel tired, stretched, or quietly worn down
  • Want faith that integrates heart, mind, body, and soul
  • Are discerning calling or purpose—or faithfully living it out
  • Lead, serve, create, and care for others
  • Long for joy that feels real, not forced

You don’t need to have it together here.
And you don’t need to feel joyful to begin.

You’re welcome exactly as you are.

A Little About Me

I’m a wife, mom, pastor, and writer. And honestly, I just care deeply about formation, faithfulness, and helping others live rooted, honest lives with God.

I write from lived experience, pastoral practice, and a long obedience of learning to listen to God, others, and to my own soul.

Joy Let Loose isn’t really a brand or a platform.
It’s a ministry space shaped by real life and deep hope.

An Invitation

If you are curious to explore joy slowly, honestly, and faithfully, you’re in the right place.

And you can begin wherever feels safest:

  • Start with the Start Here page
  • Explore one of the three pillars
  • Or simply read and linger

Joy doesn’t need to be rushed.
It just needs room to breathe.

Joy Let Loose is an invitation to practice joy rooted in Jesus—honestly, gently, and faithfully—one ordinary day at a time.
